I don't know why, damaged perhaps? It's 10 meters in length. The Intel CNVi WIFI Upgrade kit offers an easy way to upgrade Intel CNVi WIFI Upgradeable motherboards with new and faster Gigabit WIFI connectivity without having to upgrade to a whole new system. It's a white cat6 "flat design" - it is the one that's dropping my speed to 100 Mbps. it seems I missed one cable from testing. Tried googling for hours, but mostly what I find is people having trouble with their ISP's and Internet (which I don't have an issue with). Maybe there is something I'm simply missing. I did the latest updated on both of machines, it seems as whatever I do it's always capped at 100 Mbps, but on both PCs it shows "1.0 GBPS" under Ethernet status. I already tried changing cables, same thing. I don't care about Internet speed, I just need the fastest possible transfer between two computers. At looking at the Ethernet graph in task manager the transfer speed definitely looks "capped" as it bounces a bit up and down, but hits the ceiling at 100 Mbps and won't go any further. I've read that the disk speed could be the problem, but I have fast SSSDs on both end. I then tried to transfer a file between PCs, opened the task manager and saw that the transfer (throughput) is still capped at 100 mbps :( It seemed that I upgraded my setup successfully, or so I hoped. Since I updated the switch (had an old version of D-link) both of my Ethernet adapters are showing 1.0 GBPS (previously it was 100.0 Mbps). (desktop PC, mobo is Gigabyte b360m ds3h). I'm a video editor and I want to increase transfer speeds in my studio between PCs, so no Internet involved her, but I'm having some problems. u/RoweDent created this awesome resource on network theory u/tht1kidd_ has created a suggestion post regarding information everyone needs to provide when asking a question about their network There have been some excellent guides written in this sub, and we're always looking for more!
